A few weeks later…

You were in your room, working on your computer. You were learning computer programming in your spare time.

Taeyeon entered your room and sat down on your bed.

“We got mail!” She sounded excited, and you your chair to face her. She was opening a big envelope.

“Is that your acceptance letter from college?” You wondered out loud and she smiled.

“I hope so.” She finally opened it and grinned as soon as she read the letter included. “Yes!” She stood up and did a little dance.

“Congratulations, Tae!” You gave her a hug.

“Oh!” She suddenly parted the hug. “This is for you.” She handed you an envelope slightly smaller than hers.

“But I didn’t apply to college…” You said as you opened it.” It’s from the contest” You read the letter, handing Taeyeon the envelope. “I got second place!” You did a piece sign with your fingers and grinned.

“That’s awesome!” Taeyeon flipped the envelope over the bed and all its contents fell out.

“What’s that?” You sat down on the bed.

“It’s gift cards. There’s a lot of them.” Taeyeon picked them up. “The movies, restaurants, even the café!”

It’s so nice to only have to focus on work during summer break.” Taeyeon sighed in content. You smiled.

You were both on your way to work, Taeyeon was driving.

“That’s how my whole year is going to be.” You placed your hands behind your neck, pretending to relax. “Just work and that course I’m taking online.”

You reached for your phone and checked the calendar.

“I think I’ll ask Hwasa to give me next Wednesday off.”

“Why?” Taeyeon parked the car near the café.

“What do you mean, why?” You frowned.

You both got out of the car and walked together to the entrance.

“You really don’t know?” She shook her head. “I’m not telling you.” You opened the door and entered, Taeyeon followed behind with a big smile on her face.

You went straight to the changing room right after greeting Moonbyul and Solar. Taeyeon stayed behind.

“You have to talk to Hwasa.” She told them as soon as you were out of sight.

“Why?” Moonbyul asked, Solar approached the counter.

“Next Wednesday is ___’s birthday. She wants the day off, but I thought we could celebrate it here.” Taeyeon explained.

“That’s a great idea. We can trick her into thinking she’s coming to work and then surprise her.” Solar smirked.

“Exactly!” Taeyeon and Solar high-fived.

“I’ll talk to Hwasa right now. We can make a group chat later to figure it all out.” Moonbyul left the counter to go to Hwasa’s office.
